You can delete all the data from your Apple Watch by resetting it. This type of resetting is also called “formatting” or a “hard reset“, which will bring the watch back to its factory settings.
Note: This kind of formatting will erase all your data from your Apple Watch. All the settings, media files, documents and application data stored by the user will be removed permanently.
If you want you to sell your Apple watch or if your watch is not performing well, then resetting your watch is the best choice. Resetting will clear all the data from your watch and bring it back to its original factory settings which will help your watch perform better. Also when you decide to sell the Apple Watch, you may need to unpair Apple Watch and erase all of its contents. So let’s see how.
How to Reset Apple Watch?
There are two methods to reset your Apple Watch.
- Reset from Apple Watch settings
- Reset through paired iPhone
Method 1: Reset from Apple Watch Settings
This is one the easiest and preferred method to reset your device.
Step 1: Open your Apple Watch
Step 2: Head over to the settings
Step 3: Select General from the settings
Step 4: Then, select the reset option
Step 5: Here click on Erase All Contents and Settings option
Step 6: Then click on Erase All to confirm
This will reset your Apple Watch to factory settings. I want to inform you that once this process is done, you cannot revert back. A factory reset is permanent, data once lost through hard reset cannot be recovered.
Method 2: Reset through Paired iPhone
If you have paired iPhone with Apple Watch, you can use the Watch app on your iPhone to reset your watch. This method is possible for those who never had an activation lock setup.
Step 1: Keep your iPhone and Apple Watch close.
Step 2: Open the My Watch app on your iPhone.
Step 3: Select the General option.
Step 4: Scroll down to the bottom and select the Reset option.
Step 5: Select Erase Apple Watch Contents and Settings
Step 6: Then click on Erase All Contents and Settings from the alert prompt with delete all media and data
Step 7: Based on your settings you have to enter your Apple ID password to continue
Step 8: Now click on Erase All Contents and Settings from the other alert prompt
Step 9: If you are using the Apple Watch 3 series, you have to select either Keep Plan or Remove Plan. You can either select Keep Plan to backup your apple watch data or choose to Remove Plan to delete all the data and you will be unpaired from your iPhone.
Then the Apple Watch will start resetting.
That’s it you have reset your device.
Note: If you are resetting your device because of software related issues, we recommend you to back up the device first. Some software issues can be cleared will a simple restart, so first restart Apple Watch.
Resetting your Apple Watch will wipe Apple Watch to factory settings and will clear any software related issues. Now it becomes your brand device, which will run smoothly.
