Apple TV is a streaming media player that lets you watch videos, listen to music, play games, and use any apps from the Internet on your TV. Developed by Apple, it comes pre-installed with Apple App Store, where you can download all the Apple supported apps to your TV. Like iPhone and iPad, Apple TV also provides Siri voice assist. You are allowed to cast video and audio files from a Mac, iPhone or iPad. Methods to Turn Off Apple TV
Turning off Apple TV is a simple and easy process. There are two methods to do it.
- Turn off using Remote
- Turn off from Settings
Method 1: Turn Off Apple TV Using Remote
If you are using 4th Generation Apple TV, turn it off by using Siri remote.
Step 1: Press and hold the Home button for five seconds. The Home button on Apple TV Siri remote looks like a TV icon located on the right side.
Step 2: Select Sleep from the pop-up menu displayed on the screen. It will turn off your Apple TV immediately.
If you are using 3rd generation or earlier versions of Apple TV. you can turn it off by using traditional Apple TV remote.
Step 1: Press and hold the Menu button for few seconds.
Step 2: Then Press and hold the Play or Pause button for five seconds, the Apple TV will turn off.
Note: You can also do the same process using the Apple TV Remote app on your iPhone or iPad.
Method 2: Turn Off Apple TV from Settings
Without the Apple TV remote, you can use the settings option to turn off your Apple TV.
Step 1: Press the Home button on your remote.
Step 2: Select settings app and Open it on your Apple TV.
Step 3: Click on Sleep Now option.
Step 4: Select Sleep to turn off your Apple TV immediately.
How to Turn off Apple TV Automatically after a Period of Inactivity
You can fix a time period to turn off your Apple TV after a certain time of its inactivity.
Step 1: Go to the Settings app on your Apple TV.
Step 2: Select the General option.
Step 3: Select the Sleep After and adjust the time to turn off your Apple TV itself after a certain time of inactivity.
To wake up your TV, click on any button, it is same as smartphones or computers.
Lastly, if you find now way to switch off Apple TV, simply disconnect it from the power source.
