How to Check Traffic to Work or Home on Google Maps

Find your traffic to home and work and travel accordingly.

Google Maps is one of the reliable apps which millions of people using it every day to find addresses and to navigate around the globe. You can access it with the help of a web browser or the dedicated app on your smartphones or tablets. Along with finding the directions for different places, you can also check the traffic to your home, workplace or any other place and predict the time taken to your travel. You can use it while travelling to your office in the morning or returning from office to home in the evening.

Note: Before checking traffic to your workplace or home, you should have saved the location of your workplace or home on your device.

How to Check Traffic to Home or Work (Using Android and iOS)

Step 1: Open the Google Maps on your Android/iOS device.

Note: Google Maps is a pre-installed app in Android device and iOS users need to install the app from the App Store.

Step 2: Make sure that you’re signed in and saved your home or workplace.

Step 3: Tap the hamburger icon and click the Your Places menu.

Step 4: Select either Home or Work.

Step 5: Click Directions to find the easiest route for your location.

Step 6: Click the Stack icon and select Traffic.

Step 7: Now, the direction to your locations will be indicated with different colours

  • Red – heavy traffic
  • Orange – moderate traffic
  • Green – no traffic

How to Check Traffic to Home or Work (Using Browser)

Step 1: Open Google Maps on your PC/laptop browser.

Step 2: Click the menu icon that you can see on the top left corner.

Step 3: Select your homeplace or work and click the Directions to display the route for your location.

Step 4: Again, click the menu icon and select Traffic.

Step 5: Now, the streets will be indicated with the same set of colours mentioned above.

How to Save your Workplace or Home?

Regardless of the platform, it is very easy to save your home or Workplace on Google Maps.

Step 1: Open Google Maps and click the hamburger icon on the top right corner.

Step 2: Select Your Places.

Step 3: Select either Home or Work.

Step 4: Enter your address and click Save.

Note: You can also select the location from the map.
