Well, the dark mode on Snapchat arrived a little late than the other social media apps. Before Snapchat, communication apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit have released the dark theme. Still, there are limitations in the Snapchat dark theme. Only in the iOS app, Snapchat has released the dark theme. For Android users, the app has no dedicated dark mode.
How to Enable Snapchat Dark Mode on iPhone
#1 Launch the Snapchat app and go to your profile by clicking the Bitmoji available on the top left corner of the app.
#2 Select the Settings option available on the top left corner of the screen.
#3 Scroll down and find the App Appearance option at the bottom of the page.
#4 Click on it and you will find three options.
Match System: This will match your iPhone display settings.
Always Light: This will use the normal light appearance.
Always Dark: This will apply the dark theme.
#5 Choose Always Dark from the three options to enable the dark theme on Snapchat.
How to Get Dark Mode on Snapchat – Android Smartphone
Unlike iPhones, Android devices don’t have native dark mode support for Snapchat. If you need to use the Snapchat app in dark mode, you need to tweak your smartphone settings a little. You have to make changes to the developer option. Update your Android smartphone to the latest version to get new features.
#1 Open Settings on your Android device and choose Display.
#2 From the list, find and enable the Dark mode for your device.
#3 Now, go to the Settings main page and scroll down until you see the About phone section.
#4 Click on it and select Software Information.
#5 Tap on the Build Number option repeatedly until you see a notification stating that the Developer option is enabled.
#6 Now, get back to the Setting page and select the Developer options menu.
#7 Now, enable the Override force-dark (or Force Dark mode for Samsung smartphones) to get the dark mode on Snapchat.
#8 Now, launch the Snapchat app, and it will open with a dark or black background.
The above method works only on the older versions of Snapchat. To turn on the dark theme on the latest version of Snapchat, you have to wait until its official release. There is also a unique feature in the Snapchat app called Night mode or Low-light mode. When taking snaps, there will be a crescent icon. Tapping this icon will enable the night mode on Snapchat.
